My passion has always been found in visual storytelling, especially after having worked for 15 years as a professional photojournalist for the San Francisco Chronicle. And I take that passion with me everywhere—including my newborn sessions!
I like to approach my newborn sessions like lifestyle sessions, with my primary focus on the interaction between the new baby and his or her family and surroundings. Unlike a studio session, with props and controlled poses, I want to tell the story of your newborn at home. Show me how you cradle your baby, how you rock together and look into each other’s eyes.
Natural Newborn Sessions
A newborn lifestyle session is a great way to capture a small glimpse of those early days with the new little one in your home. The focus is on the family and on the connections—so bring in big brothers and sisters or even the family dog or cat. Or all of the above! Lifestyle sessions are honest and natural, with an authentic and candid approach. I explain to my brand-new parents that I just want to capture them being them, and it all falls into place from there.
To encourage a natural atmosphere and to get those more relaxed, tender moments, I will travel to my clients’ homes. Once I’m there, I want you to do what you usually do—and that means plenty of time for feeding, changing, and soothing the baby if you need to. Don’t worry about the trip; I cater to families all over the place—the East Bay, Orinda, Lafayette, Moraga, Oakland, Piedmont, Danville, Lamorinda, Pleasanton, and San Ramon.
Bay Area Family Photography
Now, I know that you might be reading this post about “newborn” sessions and think it might be too late for your sweet babies if they’re already a few months old. But the truth is that most of my clients contact me when their babies are between 3 and 7 months old. It’s never too late to capture those early phases of life! Excited cooing, smiling, and first waving and eye contact are also so precious to photograph.
It’s an honor to capture the sweetest moments of a growing family. I’m grateful to all of the clients that I have been able to work with and look forward to meeting more amazing families.
