The Evans family wanted to go somewhere unique in the Bay Area this year for their family portraits, so we headed to the beach!

With all the gorgeous locations in the Bay Area to choose from, we often forget about our gorgeous Pacific coastline. Yes, it can take some effort to gather the family in the car and head to the sand, but boy, it makes for some amazing family memories. The Evans Family lives in San Mateo, so I suggested going to a beach in Half Moon Bay. With a vast and diverse landscape that encompasses miles of wide sandy beaches, lush blufftop meadows, and rolling forested hills, there is plenty to explore. We will often start the session with everyone looking in the camera, but that lasts all of 10 seconds. After that, my goal is more of a lifestyle, candid portrait session, I photograph various combinations, whether mom and kids, kids together or each child alone. This makes them feel so special. We ran around, took our shoes off and captured the boys in their glory. Whether it was running towards the surf or getting tickles from Dad, it is a pleasure to know the boys will have these portraits to remember their childhood in Northern California. And afterwards, it’s a perfect time to head to the wharf for fish and chips. What a great day!
