These family portraits in San Francisco feature the wonderful Marshburn Family. I have been lucky enough to work with them for years and see the beautiful kids grow. Each session we decide on a groovy new location. This year we chose North Beach in San Francisco. How fun! I love working in colorful urban settings for an unusual visual style. In addition, we love in one of the most beautiful cities on earth, so why not give it a starring role in the session? The textures and cityscapes make for intriguing elements in the portraits. In addition, this family is so loving and playful, it was a dream to work with them yet again.

We often don’t realize the importance of family photographs until it is too late. A lot of us go looking for family photos when we lose a person close to us and it is only natural, we look to our family photographs to help us remember. These photos are the ones that will put smiles on our faces and help us cope with the change of a person no longer being nearby. Photos, like memories and stories, are part of our legacy. We hold them close, we pass them down. It’s a gift to be able to share a visual of moments, details, people, places and things to those we love, so that they, too, can feel even a glimmer of the joy we feel when we reflect on those times.
